Biden and the environment.

Arguably one of the most important things about the 2020 Presidential Election are the environmental/climate policies of both candidates. Trump's doesn't require much explanation because it is in short non-existant - it repeals policies enacted to protect the environment rather than putting knew ones in - and serves only to help corporations that do more harm to the environment than good. Biden on the other hand has  a plan to better the environment and the climate that, in the long run, will serve to benefit every individual and cooperation in the United States.       Biden's plan, as stated on his campaign website, works to "ensure the U.S. achieves a 100% clean energy economy and reaches net-zero emissions no later than 2050", "rally the rest of the world to meet the threat of climate change", "Stand up to the abuse of power by polluters who disproportionately harm communities of color and low-income communities", and "fulfill our ...

Greta Thunberg TEDxStockholm

The Disarming Case to Act Right Now on Climate Change. Greta Thunberg TEDxStockholm I think Greta’s end goal is to mitigate, and even stop climate change in its tracks -- to make our climate the way it should naturally be. This TED Talk was recorded in 2018, and I do feel that from then to now she has succeeded, but not in the way she has imagined. The climate may be worse today in 2020 than it was in 2018, but one thing that has changed is us… from 2018 to now almost every person with access to the internet or a newspaper/magazine knows what Climate Change is. She has gotten people to start talking, millions (maybe even billions) to start talking about Climate Change and how to save the only planet we can call home. Her activism in her TED Talk and life has forced companies and those in power to make changes to better the climate. Most importantly however, she has gotten the average person to start worrying about the climate. She has made almost every person to hear her...

I started this blogpost with the dual goal of promoting awareness on global warming and planting trees across different areas in the world. So, you might wonder why did I call this fundraiser - 2 Degrees Fahrenhiet ? Did you know that the Earth's average temperature has increased about  2 degrees Fahrenheit during the 20th century . Two degrees may sound like a small amount, but it's an unusual event in our planet's recent history. Earth's climate record, preserved in tree rings, ice cores, and coral reefs, shows that the global average temperature is stable over long periods of time. Furthermore, small changes in temperature correspond to enormous changes in the environment. For example, at the end of the last ice age, when the Northeast United States was covered by more than 3,000 feet of ice, average temperatures were only 5 to 9 degrees cooler than today.
